Tetsuo Otani
電力用通信の規格・基準に関する研究を主とし、日本の配電自動化に対する国際規格 IEC 61850の適用や、国プロによる双方向通信を用いた分散型電源の出力制御やその基準策定にも貢献。現在は市場取引用通信に関する標準化提案などにも取り組む。将来的には、分散型電源や需要家設備の活用をうまく使って、カーボンフリーの電力供給と、電力設備をスリム化して社会全体最適な需給システムを実現したい、という。
サッカーチームがあることを条件に職場を選んだぐらいのサッカー好き。本格的に始めたのは中学校からだが、社会人になっても本気でプレーする。平日でも仕事が終わった後に1時間以上の長距離通勤にも関わらず、仕事上がり後のサッカーをすることを厭わない。
